When I restore my iPod touch, it does not reset the password...

I forgot my iPod password, so I set it into recovery mode and put in into my computer. On itunes a dialog box popped up that said that it was in recovery mode and needed to be restored, so I clicked restore. After waiting 18 minutes, it said that it was complete, but, when I wesnt onto my ipod, The passowrd had not been reset so I couldn;t get in. Why is that? How do I fix it? Is it because I have got a new computer and have not yet sunk my iPod with it?
