Unable To Burn CD

I am unable to burn songs from iTunes onto a CD. When I slip a blank CD into the burner and click Burn Disc on iTunes, a message box appears that says "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. To continue with the disk inserted, click Ignore." (The other option is to eject the disk.) When I click Ignore, nothing happens.

The strange thing is, I've already burned a few CDs already with no problems. But now for some reason I can't. The only thing I can think of is that I recently upgraded to the very latest version of iTunes, but I can't see why that would be a problem.

If it helps, the disks are Imation CD-R and my OS is Mac OS 10.2.8.

If anyone can offer any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I have the same problem but have the iTunes 4.8 version and have not upgraded to 6.0. Same scenerio - burned a few CD's and on the third it said the burn spped was too fast. Have gone down to 1X and still no go. it just says "Checking Media" and then goes back to th apple in the window. Am using the same brand CD's I've been using including the 2 previous CD's I had just burned with no problem. Also in Advanced there is no option that says internal or external device??

ok, I got only the Pioneer internal burner on my superdrive flat panel iMac. I don't get what's going on. Maybe some kind of iTunes virus put on by some Microsofter? LOl It's weird that since I didn't update to iTunes 6.0 that I'd be having the same problems as they do burning CD's. And especially since I had just burned 2 and all systems were go just a few minutes before. It won't even burn a playlist of one song in audio or mp3 now. Just the "checking media" and then shutting off. What the stink is going on?

I had the exact problem Michael described with my PowerBook G4, OS X 10.4.6. I tried the PRAM reboot suggested below, but it didn't work for me. Someone in the forum suggested lowering the burn speed--Go to iTunes in the top menu bar, select Preferences>Burning and just below you can select the speed (mine had previously been set to "maximum speed possible" & actually still worked at that setting if I used the Kodak CD-R Ultima 650MB 74 min. cds I bought back in 2001 or so. Now I can burn my playlists without incident (using Maxell CD-R 700MB 80 min.)
