Left side of Trackpad on Macbook Pro has gone weird?

I have had my Macbook Pro for 10 months now and I love it. However I was using my laptop today and I noticed that the left side of my Trackpad isn't clicking properly, the right side is working fine. The working side of the trackpad (right) feels as though it goes in deeper when you click and makes a louder sound than the other side... the left side feels as though there is something blocking it and it won't click down properly. The clicking command still works on both sides. Would this be something that would come under warranty and apple would replace?! Please help... thanks in advance. 😟🙂

Hey Jakob,

Sorry to hear about your problem. The best thing to do would be to find the closest apple store and request to have a Genius look at it, If they inspect it and find that it is just a factory fault then they will be more than happy to give you a replacement laptop, but that is if you have kept your receipt of purchase. Otherwise you could be struck with a bill of something between $300-800 depending on how much damage has to be repaired.

I strongly suggest you don't open the laptop to see what is wrong, and if possible use a mouse until you can get the problem inspected and solved. I have attatched a link to the page where you will be able to track your nearest apple store.

The most probable thing they will do is fix your problem by repairs rather than a new laptop. If they find the problem is bigger than the trackpad and it's a whole system thing that's just dormant at the moment then they will definetly replace it with a new one.

You will still need a proof of purchase if not a receipt. You can always go back to the same store and ask if you are still on their database because i know some stores ask for your details if you purchase items over a certain price.

Regardless of which, check out the closest store to you and they will provide more in depth answers. I would book as soon as possible because from personal experience it can take up to three days before you can book a viewing. But i do recomend you avoid using the laptop wherever possible because it may make the problem worse and void the warranty, if you MUST use the laptop then avoid the damaged areas by using a mouse (or external trackpad if you own one).
