Paging all JBL Creature II owners - question for you

Just got my Creature II speakers with bass and I'm a little disapppointed - they sound sort of tinney (spelling on that may not be right - as in 'tin').

Is that 'cause they are new and need the cones to break in or is that how they really are.

Thanks in advance!

Strange... because I own two sets of them and they sound incredible to me. But then again, I'm not exactly what you'd call an 'audiophile'... The primary reason I got these were because they look darn good with the iMacs I have.

Given that, I am pretty happy with the sound reproduction, though the midrange could use a little help. But at the price I got them, I'm not complaining ($62 on sale)!

Have you tried playing around with the iTunes preferences and the equalizer options? Having them set up properly (according to your listening needs) helps a lot.

There are also some plugins that improve sound output for iTunes incredibly, like Volume Logic.I myself have the OSS 3D plugin for iTunes that just transforms the sound to another level altogether. Excellent sound expansion and more features than Volume Logic!

Hi Steve

I also have these speakers hooked to my iMac 20" Intel Core Duo, and they sound OK, considering the size of the drivers on the satelites (about 2").
Small speakers have small sound, regardless of the brand (even the Bose), and it's an acoustic limitation.
These JBL have a crossover frequency of 180 Hz, in other words, the satelites MUST start responding well at 180 Hz which is kind of difficult.
But for general use, I think they're pretty reasonable and well balanced.
I also paid $44.00 for mine at eBay (refurbished by JBL), and at this price, it's a steal compared to the rest that's available on the market.

Good luck.

Pedro
