small caps don't show up on iPad

Under Font Panel Actions>Typography, I select Small Caps and it shows up fine in Author, but has no effect on the iPad. But if I select Format>Font>Capitalization>Small Caps, it shows up in both Author and the iPad. Problem is, that's a "fake" small caps, not the small caps built into the font. So for Hoefler Text, the Typography small caps makes the small caps equal in height to the lowercase numerals, but using the Format>...Small Caps, the letters are bigger, so it looks crappy. Any way to make it use the real small caps, not the fake one?
