Quick Time Pro - Mask doesn't work

Hi,

I apply the procedure to crop Black Bars on videos.

After creating the mask picture and add it in the video property, quicktime show an excellent result.

Then I try to export (and also try to save as), but the final result is video with the black bars 😟

I tried many way to export or changing the mask, but didnt work.

The only think bizzard I see, is that after appling the mask, the video is still in 640x480 and not with the new ratio.

Thank you for help,

Best Regards,

Quicktime pro-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

This only works for "old tech" players like QT 7 player and then only when the file is saved using the QT 7 Pro "Save" or "Save As..." option. Masking is a display only work flow and the original data is not really changed by the "mask" work flow. Masked areas will be ignored by "new tech" players such as QT X and exporting "masked" content, even by QT 7 Pro, will remove the mask before converting the data to the targeted compression format. If you want to export the data or create a cropped file that plays the same in both "old" and "new" technology player apps, then you must physically crop the file using an application like MPEG Streamclip.

But, I am using QT 7 Pro, and after apply the mask, and save as (try also export), I open the new file also in QT 7 Pro, but nothing changes.

Just rechecked work flow under Lion, Snow Leopard, and Leopard. Still working as previously described on all of my systems. Have no idea why "display masking" is not working on your system.
