Comparison between the two models : http://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/

If the improved cameras, screen resolution and graphics processing are important to you then get the new model. If they aren't, but the extra capacity would be more useful to you, then get the iPad 2. Only you know know what you will use if for, and which feature and specs are more important

Looking at this top down,

Main selling points

  1. The A5X's X is used to support the retina display mainly, you're not going to see huge improvements. The bottom line is the processor is still a dual core 1Ghz
  2. Retina display - screen definitely more crisp on the New iPad but some can live without it
  3. Siri dictation - I'm not sure how useful is this as it doesn't really pick up all different accents well

Other details

  1. Camera - It's just a 5 Megapixel camera, it probably won't take you the photos in great quality. I don't believe a 5 megapixel camera is capable of delivering 1080p videos
  2. Weight & depth - you can feel the real difference.
  3. Charge time - would you want to be bound by a wall socket for longer periods? If you do not mind, the New iPad is okay.

Shall not digress but I would say iPad 2. I've got 2 New iPads, second one from a replacement of the first and the 3rd is coming and the issue is simply heat (I've hit over 50 celcius on infinity blade II and Real Racing easily in minutes), which relates to dismal battery performance as the iPad itself produces heat beyond the battery's maximum temperature treshold. I'm not saying you'll get hold to such a unit or in fact twice in a row but its something you should seriously consider. On heat, if you're in a cold country the issue may be far less severe. With one thing that stands out as a sore thumb, its enough to put me off and go back to basics.

So in terms of reliability, the New iPad may not fare as well as the iPad 2 in my opinion, which is driving me to purchase an iPad 2 if the 3rd one fails. On the 32GB iPad 2, make sure the local store has that in their inventories because 32/64GB iPad2s are no longer in production.

If they can be somewhat important, 3 ipad specifications, as the camera is not very motivating, I think the ipad camera 2 is pretty good, makes videos in HD equal to 2, during the same worst thing I demotivating and, hours of battery charge ipad 3 may take up to 5 hours and do not use while charging, why not load, and heating it is uncomfortable with some one be so hot and that at any moment have to turn it off because it requires, and would play much on it, run films and would take full advantage and signal wiffi putting problem to connect sometimes, are things that will not let me take the plunge and actually in terms of memory, I am a designer then need a lot of memory for my designs etc movies., but I also like the retina display are things I hold back so I have a question about which to choose.

I just replaced my iPad 1 with the New iPad (or iPad 3), and I highly recommend the new model. Although both my devices have 64 GB, I think iCloud, Dropbox and other "cloud" services make the internal storage less important, so the sacrifice of 16 GB of onboard storage in favor of the new higher resolution screen is well worth it. The new camera is nice but not all that useful in a comparatively awkward iPad.

Of course, there is some advantage owning the newest technology, because it will take (a little bit) longer to become obsolete. So go with the new model, I say.

I am in the same situation with my inlaws who can't decide on their first ipad and they want me to help. I recommended the ipad 2 for their situation. They won't ideally use the ipad to shoot video so the 1080p quality of the new iPad is not much use. Also, they would not notice a difference in the screen quality or the faster chip in the new one as well. If you don't have the 2 ipads next to each other, you will not notice that the quality of the ipad 2's screen is inferior. Your pictures will still look stunning!

Other minor features (like bluetooth upgrade, and voice control) were also not important.

So it basically boiled down to space. I would rather have 32gb than 16gb. The only regret I have heard from other ipad owners is that they wished they spent more money and got the 32 or 64gb model.

Therefore, since many features are comparable with both models I'll opt for the one with more space. Also, in the future when Apple increases the minimum space on the ipads to 32, 64, 128gb people will have a mindset that they at least need a 32gb. So I think that you would have a better chance at selling an ipad 2 32gb than the 16 ipad3.
