why when i try to make a call on FaceTime on a mac it tells me "Check the phone number you called to make sure it is complete."

I have a same problem on OS X and this solution worked for me:
Check that "Set date and time automatically" is set in Date and Time Preference.

It does not make sense what this had to do with the problem in the first place, but it worked smoothly with me too on this error. Thank you very much for the hint.
