Dec 9, 2015 2:27 PM in response to atyreeby Rakkers76,PROBLEM SOLVED
I have just solved this problem on my iPhone 6 - I deleted the email account entirely and then then added it again. When it was back, the two phantom unread emails had gone.

Jan 6, 2016 12:49 PM in response to atyreeby brandoning,I had the same issue, finally solved it on my own. On my iphone 6 I went to
- settings, then
- "mail, contacts, calenders"
- iCloud and logged in then went back a step
- clicked on my company exchange or i'm guessing for a non-work phone its the gmail / aol / etc. client
- turned the mail icon to off
- then turned the mail icon back on
- messages disappeared
I previously tried syncing this with my laptop through a usb as I have MS Outlook on my mac, but dice. After months of annoyance, the above steps finally worked.

Feb 20, 2016 6:03 AM in response to Wizard Fingersby jswardyn,Thanks Wizard Fingers -- further instructions would be go to settings, mail contacts calendars, then to outlook, slide the green slide to off, then go back to the home screen and go back in and turn it back on and my fantom badge was gone.....I did not even have to reboot.
Good luck with yours and thanks again!

Feb 20, 2016 8:22 AM in response to atyreeby stevenjlipscomb,I've been having the same exact issue on an iPhone 6 with Outlook for weeks. I was just able to resolve it by opening client on my laptop, marking all emails in my inbox as unread, refresh my phone, then mark all emails read on the client on my laptop and refresh my phone again. Finally the three mysterious unread emails on my phone were all 'read'.
