How do I buy apps for Apple TV

How do we install apps on Apple TV. I brought this little cute thing thinking I can do almost install like touch and iphone... install video apps for news, sports, music etc. The Vizio, Samsung TVs and ROKU are giving better apps compare to what I have on Apple TV. What does it takes to improve this product to stream and watch videos.. like ABC, ShowTime etc. I feel if we include that feature Apple can sell billions of these cute devices.

I am little bit disappointed.

The only apps for the iPad are the ones installed as part of the operating system. There are none that you can add. You might wish to investigate apps for the phones and the touches and use AirPlay to get them to the Apple TV and, of course, to the television itself.

Pity - I bought mine because someone at the Apple store told me it could do everything the Roku could do and more..

I guess lying is a part of the sales tactic now... Luckily I can still return it.
