Apple ATI Radeon 5770 1 GB ZML MC742ZM/AHDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

I purchased the ati 5770 video card upgrade in anticipation of moving my household to HD. Yes, I knw it's been out for awhile, but I had invested in DVR's and so on and wanted to get my money's worth befor addopting new technology. Anyway, poped in the card, booted up, everything is fine. Then today I get an HD video and instead of playing I get a message about my display not being compliant This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). I was all set to purchase the 27" apple display, but if it's not going to play purchased video, what's the point?

My question is: If I had a mini display port monitor attached would it play? Or am I going to get the same error message?

Mac Pro (Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.3), Apple ATI Radeon 5770 1 GB

The Apple 27" is HDCP compliant. The display you are using currently is not (according to that message). I have no problem playing DVDs on my mac pro through a 5780 to a 27" mini-displayport Apple display (I generally don't play them that way and play them on my HDTV connected to my mac pro instead).

How you connect the momitor is not going to make a difference so long as you use a digital connection. HDCP doesn't affect analog so you could do it with VGA. Of course the quality of the video won't be as good.

Don't you just love the movie industry?!😟

I have a Mac Pro early 2008, with apple 1900 x 1200 display. I replaced the stock Radeon HD 2600 XT with an HD 5770, and I am now, for the first time, getting HDCP errors on all .m4v media. By the way, System integration reports EFI Driver Version: 01.00.436. Otherwise, the card works.

This does not seem to be a monitor compatibility problem.
