Viber can't access Push Notifications

I deleted Viber from my Iphone 4, after it duplicated and scrambled the Viber address book. Reinstalled the App, and now get a error message saying "Viber can't access Push Notifications". Checked Settings/Notifications, and Viber is "On". Tried the solutions offered by other Iphone users a) Entered 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4 into my wifi DNS. Does not work. b) Depressed the power button and home button at the same time to "force" the App. Does not work. c) Installed Ipush Test App. Does not work.

My phone is not jailbroken, Viber worked before, every App that uses Push Notifications work, reported the problem to Viber, no response!! Can somebody HELP me. This App is driving me CRAZY!!

Thanks for the comments. Have done a search, and the only solutions to my problem are those mentioned in my blog. Neither worked. Searched the Viber website, where an Ipush Test app is suggested. This doesnt work either. Contacted Viber Customer Service who can't be bothered bothered to respond. What to do???

Viber Customer Support finally woke up, and lept into action!! Had a number of questions/answers from them over a couple of days. Unfortunately the problem lies with Apple's Push Notifications. Some Iphones, when upgraded to IOS 5, have a glitch in their software. This creates the Push Notification problem with certain App's.The only way to resolve this it to clear the phone, and start again from scratch. Sounds like a NIGHTMARE!! As Viber is working on a solution to the problem created by Apple, I will wait and see. In the meantime, have switched to Tango for long distance video calls. A great App!!

Thanks Viber, but if you had read the "thread" you would have seen I have tried all Viber's suggestions, plus some from Apple Support. Unfortunately, Viber still does not work. Strange, as it had operated before. Really believe it is a problem related to Apple's IOS 5 software upgrade. Time, Apple fixed the numerous bugs in this program!

Hmm...

It is hard to tell from the information you provided so far whether this is an Apple issue, or a Viber issue.

I invite you to open a support ticket to our team for further investigation of this issue. In this page, concerning Push Notification errors inside Viber, you can read all about it, and also you can find the link to open a support ticket at the bottom of the page: http://bit.ly/uRG1Dw

We hope that you find this useful and that the problem is resolved ASAP 🙂

Thank you Viber for the quick response. I already opened a Support Ticket with Viber. Unfortunately, the conclusion reached from this dialogue was that the issue with Push Notifications is for Apple to resolve. Contacted Apple via their Genius Bar. Apple's solution was to wipe everthing from the phone and start again. Not something I readily want to do, in case the whole lot becomes a mess!!

@jpv1 -

I see... then unfortunately there really isn't much more we can do - if Apple say this is the solution for the Push problem.

You might want to Google this issue to find further user-based information. We have heard from some of our users that external apps like "Push Fix" and "Push Doctor" may be a solution for malfunctioning Push Notifications, but please note that this is *NOT* an official solution by Viber Media.
