The Iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (26)

Hello There,

My iPhone 4s as of Saturday as been giving me this error. I attempted to re-charge it in the USB Port on my XBox 360, as I always do, and then this is what has been showing on my screen for several days now.

I have attempted to charge it via a Computer, and iTunes let's me know 'The iPhone is in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored so that I can use it with iTunes'. Half way into the download, this error pops up 'The iPhone could not be Restored. An Unknown Error has Ocurred (26)'. I looked up online and could not find this specific Error Code, so I upgraded to the Newest Version of iTunes and tried once more, and to no avail.

What can I do to rectify this problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Try putting it in DFU mode and restore (search here or on the Google for instructions).

I tried putting it in DFU Mode and then attempted the Restore and I keep getting that same error message (26) midway through the restore.

I've only found 2 things that can cause this specific error. Are to phones that have been jailbroken. Are you absolutely positive you never jailbroke it?

If you're absolutely positive that it was never jailbroken, then you've hit a wall. The Flash chip that the phone uses to boot from is either physically damaged or has been so badly corrupted it's unwritable. Either way, there is no way to fix it.
