Need help with mac pro issues

My friends mac pro has been having a lot of issues, it runs slow, drops internet connection alot, and is slow on the internet. 20meg download and it hardly holds 2 meg, upload is fine though. I have noticed many errors, and was hoping someone may have an idea.

mac pro 2x 2.4 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

20GB 1066 MHz DDr3

main HD is 1 TB

second is 2TB

third is 3TB

Ver 10.6.8

The error log is long so Ill just put the most recent. The biggest thing I notice is there are many error messages like get component version could not resolve this component alias. It happens with many different programs. Any help is appreciated.

Great Googly Moogly-sounds like something is wrong. Try running disk utility, and repairing permissions. Failing that, try logging in as admistrator and make sure your hard drive is set to everyone, read/write. You may have to create a new user account. I don't know how to do that, though. You may try to do an Archive and Install from the original install dvd, which won't hurt your data, but will reinstall the OS and may solve your problem. Also try releasing and renewing your IP address. or changing channels if you're on wireless. Perhaps a firmware update?? I don't know exactly how you connect to the internet, so I can't really be of too much help. The crystal ball has gone dark........

Start by disabling/uninstalling some of the third party stuff that is installed:

VirusBarrier

arcsoft

tuneupmedia

ProTec6 Server

Switchboard

Antispam Engine

To possibility check that it might (only might) be one of these boot in safe mode. This will suppress all of the third party stuff. I don't know if you can temporarily live without that stuff while in safe mode but if you can it would be an additional check to see if it is potentially one of these.
