@ login the trackpad is disabled. Are there login keys to select the user? Or a quick key to re-enable the T-pad. I have a feeling it has something to do with Universal Access, as reinstall dies @ "loading additional speech voices".

After login, if the device is paired with you system, it should just work. You shouldn't have to do any additional operations.
Try smc and pram reset.
Make sure the BT devices are discoverable.
I'm not sure what smc reset is or what the keys are & I don't seem to be able to opt- p r because of the hardware psswd utility.
If I try to reinstall, it keeps quitting @ "installing additional speech voices"(T . T)

Pram reset isn't functioning, only the power button, I do have a way to 10.6 though a neiboring 10.7 I'm not sure what kext or extension needs to be fixed. Thanks for the links though.
