Apr 13, 2012 8:57 AM in response to v0vetsby Miles Tone,I was thinking the same thing. Thousands of people in Russia and other "nonpriority markets" are becoming owners of the new iPad right now while we discuss the problem. But officially all these customers do not exist and so is the problem to the Apple? this company has always been famous for it's loyality to it's clients. The information is spreading and I hope it will get proper treatment.
I'll contact them too.

Apr 13, 2012 11:06 AM in response to Miles Toneby careyer,Hello
I have just had a phone call with the Apple Support here in Germany. The advisor told me that Apple is totally Award of this Problem but that they can Not help right at the Moment.
The Problem is the 4G LTE Module in the New iPad. The Problem right now occures in almost every Country which does not support 4G Yet or has 4G on a different frequency Band. He told je that the providers are currently wolkig on a Solution ans that there will be Provider Updates over iTunes.
He also Said that he has no idea how Long this might Take. The only Thing we can so is wait
If the iPad was propperly tested this would Not have happened. they just punched in the latest LTE chipset without really testing it .... Shame on Apple

Apr 13, 2012 12:04 PM in response to careyerby FazerWiz,Just FEI, none of the current commercially available technologies (in the UK, US or elsewhere), officially meet the definition of 4G, however 2 different technologies (LTE and WiMAX) that are both forerunners to the technologies that will eventually provide true 4G and an Advanced version of 3G called HSDPA+ are being marketed as 4G mobile broadband.
Here in the UK, where we definitely have this problem, we don’t have anything like 4G. In fact, barring some very small and limited trials (Slough and Cornwall), the closest we get is HSDPA+ which is being marked by the 3 network as “Advanced 3G”
Strangely enough, as I posted earlier, the 3 SIM I have works fine and doesn’t have a problem, so there is something different about their network, no idea what it is though.

Apr 13, 2012 3:37 PM in response to Jorousby Clodimedius,Hello Jorous...
I followed the steps you suggest.
At first glance, reconnected instantly to the LTE ANSI was able to use Safari right on the spot.
I will roam in a couple of places were I attach the iPad to a Wifi and test the results.
Follow-up report by the end of the weekend will be posted...
As we say in French: à suivre...
Cordially... Claude

Apr 13, 2012 6:51 PM in response to v0vetsby rodzs,So, as I stated before I am also one of the "lucky" ones in the US that has this problem; but something interesting happened when I open iTunes and connected the iPad to it. By the way, I am using Verizon. A message just pop up stating that an update to the carrier settings for your iPad is available and if I want to download it now! Has anyone in the US using AT&T or Verizon got this message? I downloaded it and I guess on Monday I will find out if this helps or not. I will be out of the "home" area and using the extended 3G where I'm going. I will let you guys know if this really solve the problem.

Apr 13, 2012 8:50 PM in response to rodzsby schun40,Also Verizon, also got the update thanks to your message. Will not know until tomorrow if it resolves anything. We are in the country and our service is not wonderful to begin with so we need all the help we can get. Was in a 4G area yesterday, service was spotty but fast when the stars aligned. Thanks rodz, have passed this on to a few friends.

Apr 14, 2012 12:10 AM in response to trickardsby Tubalcain7358,Hi all, can I suggest you al try the sim pin fix as posted by AntonUK it is simple and you soon find out is it has been successful.
I did it last week on GiffGaff (O2), and it has been fine all week. GG default is 5555
Have also seen it done on T-mobile, default is 1210 (a hangover from the past obviously)
For those that can't be bothered to look
1. Go to settings, mobile data, sim pin
2. Turn on using default pin for your carrier
3. Change pin to one of your choice, that you can remember
4. Turn it off again
That seems to work for many, hopefully Apple will pull their finger out now that they have dealt with the bigger and in my opinion, more important flashback Trojan issue for MAC owners.
Good luck and credit Anton if it works for you
Adrian

Apr 14, 2012 12:32 AM in response to Tubalcain7358by base69,This is a worldwide problem Apple is having with the iPad 3G as back in Singapore, I have exactly the same problem with my iPad 3G where internet connectivity will be lost when the iPad switches from Wi-fi to 3G or vice versa despite signal of either Wi-fi or 3G being strong. Very frustrating having to always reset the iPad for it to regain connectivity. Let's hope this is not a Qualcom hardware issue as no amount of software upate can rectify the problem. The guys at Apple should really be getting their heads together to resolve the problem as this is indeed a global problem.

Apr 14, 2012 5:01 AM in response to ptfromhelsinkiby Neondiet,I'm from the UK also and my SIM is on the O2 network. I tried the SIM pin fix and I've not had a reoccurrence of the 3G problem in about a week now. Touch wood, it looks like that fixed the problem for me.

Apr 14, 2012 11:02 AM in response to Tubalcain7358by Torqen,I tried this last week and can confirm that it does NOT WORK.

Apr 14, 2012 12:24 PM in response to Torqenby Lionel_Lee,I have tried everything!
3rd iPad changed by the local Apple distributor in Singapore. Still the same issue - 3G does not work after turning off wifi.
Wonder if Apple has any solution to this worldwide problem.
Is it true that in Australia they are giving full refunds to guys who have encountered this issue and not wanting to sit and wait anymore?

Apr 14, 2012 4:12 PM in response to Neondietby FazerWiz,I tried AntonUK's SIM pin fix yesterday and so far not one failure! I'm very impressed, I don't know why it should work but it certainly seems to, mine has never worked for this long before. I've even been out today changing cells and it still works.
Nice one Anton, other UK based people with this issue should try the fix and report back.
PS. I left the SIM PIN lock on and it works for me, it never seems to ask me to unlock it.
