If you want to use it as a read-only file, save it as a .pdf in Excel and add the .pdf file to the library.
If you want to edit it on the go, save it as an Excel file, and download Numbers on your iPad. It costs USD$9.99 and has the same features as other spreadsheet organisers.

Mar 27, 2012 6:20 AM in response to Lenmontby Alex Gan,You are using iOS 5.1. iCloud is built into the device itself. For this case, it's not necessary. However, if you have more than one iOS device, like an iPhone or iPod Touch, and wish to sync the Excel file from your iPad to there, then you could always download the Numbers app on those devices and it'll sync automatically. Note that downloading an app is a one-time purchase - you could install that app on as many devices as you want and they'll only charge you the original price for the entire package.

Mar 27, 2012 6:37 AM in response to Lenmontby Demo,You will need to get the file into the Numbers app and there are a few different ways to do that. You could email the file and then use the "Open In" feature (tap and hold down on the open file in the email and select "Open In Numbers" from the resulting window) use iOS file sharing or maybe DropBox.
I use file sharing with Pages which is another iWorks app. Read this for more information.
