How do I have Apple TV learn a new Bose remote?

You need to go through the Apple TV settings menu and command the Apple TV to sleep now. it's doesn't have at traditional off button like most devices. if you switch inputs and don't use it for a little while itll go to sleep on its own. doesn't use that much power when not showing a program so nothing to worry about. hope that helps.

I have Apple TV 2nd gen and Bose solo remote. The 4 digit code works for me. 2414.

As posted above, the 'source power button' doesn't turn ATV off. You have to set the ATV to sleep after a set time in settings.

The ATV2 and ATV3 remotes are simple IR remotes(They the same model actually). You can try paring the ATV3 with the bose remote you can find the Remote settings under the general setting menu on the ATV3. The support article will tell you how to accomplish paring and un-pairing the Apple remote. IT would also help to know which model Bose remote you have.

Just spoke with Bose and the apple tv code for the bose controler is # 2 1 1 1 5.

I recently purchased the Bose Universal Remote control and the guide had two codes, 21115 & 02615, the latter worked but it's not able but the Apple TV is not responding to the power button.

I am sure this is not expected behaviour, any chance one can help?

The Menu button powers it up just like the regular Apple TV remote.

Thanks exuberantkay, that second code worked perfectly. Hope this helps others... I was starting to get frustrated when the code in the manual (2414) didn't work and the settings configuration wasn't working either.

For any trying to duplicate, here are the steps I took to pair my Bose Solo 15 universal remote with an AppleTV 3.

1. Turn on AppleTV and Bose Solo 15 sound system
2. On the Bose Solo 15 remote, press and hold the appropriate source button until all six source buttons glow, then release. (I used AUX 1 for mine)
3. Enter 02615 and then press the + button on the volume to complete.

That's it. No crazy settings trying to configure the remote, it should just work out of the box. Menu should be bound to menu, arrows to arrows, okay to the center button, and play/pause are both bound to the same function as well.

I had trouble connecting my Bose solo 5 remote to my ATV2. I used code 2414 which is correct but I forgot to unpair my original apple remote. Now it works perfectly fine.
