Q: Unable to extend my wifi (2 extremes + 1 express)
I have implemented a extended network using the following link "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259". I have also used an Airport Express wirelessly connected to the 2nd Access point.Within the range of the Express the signal is very poor and when further troubleshooting i found oout that the MAC address populated is from the second AP (xtreme) and not the Xpress. The result is the same when changing in the Xpress configuration Extend an existing Network or Join an existing network. All Airport devices are within range among them. Is there a known limitation in the number of hops (repeaters or base stations ) used in an network ?Also all devices are upgraded to 7.6.1 version .
Any ideas ?

The "extend" setup works like the hub and spokes of a wheel.
Your "main" router is the "hub". The "remote" is located at the end of a spoke.
You can have multiple "remotes", but each "remote" communicates directly to the main router or "hub".....not to another "remote" at the end of another spoke.
You can have multiple extending devices....but as the illustration shows in the setup instructions.....only one "hop"
