How do I get rid of iCloud
I do not like the iCloud and as such I want to revert to sync everything to the computer.

On the ipad: Settings -> iCloud -> storage & backup ->iCloud backup -> off
In iTunes on your computer: select your iPad, and in Settings change from sync with iCloud to sync with computer.
I'm not sure if you need to do both, but when I tried the iTunes step it wouldn't hold until I did the iPad steps.
I go back and forth and use backups both ways.
If I check the option to backup on the computer and I have the settings open on the iPad - I can see the iCloud backup being shut off automatically. If I enable the iCloud backup on the iPad and I have iTunes open on my Mac and am looking at the Summary Pane - I can see the Sync with this computer option uncheck.
I don't know if I should disable one when I want to use the other, but it seems to happen on its own when you make the selection on either device.
EDIT - I meant to say that I can see "Backup with this computer" option uncheck on the Mac- but obviously you got the idea and I did mean to direct my response to Pogo just as an FYI but I'm glad you got it sorted out. 🙂
