My daughter had some friends over and her $25 itunes gift card was scratched off and used by someone else. Is there anyway to track what account it was used on? Itunes hasn't been of any help.

I am also victim of such scam and lost $3000. I filed a police report and also reported it to FTIC. Apple is not helping at all. I understand that legally to track the transactions may be not possible. But, atleast if these kind of incidents happen why can't they just deactivate the apple id where code is redeemed and ask how they got the card. I know it's a mistake on my part but so many people are targeted because of that. Morally, Apple should come forward as this will become means of converting black money to cash.
It really does seem sad, since this is obviously one easy to follow trail right to the theif. Not sure why Apple simply can't track a number, especially when bragging about things such as owning the most advanced OS in the world, LOL.
There is a huge difference between a gift card and an OS.

I dont know who is manufacturing this gift card but finally these will be consumed in apple decice or OS. There should be a means to track this. It not just to track simple lost cards but beyond that. Search for "IRS call scams + itune gift cards". Itunes became a money transfer medium especially for online frauds. I am not sure wherher the same is possible or not with other business gift cards. But if this problems exists then that also need to have provision to track by the respective vendors on demand.

It is likely that if the information is requested under legal subpoena, Apple will respond correctly. Nothing in this thread contradicts that.
However, all readers should be aware that any unknown person asking for payment in the form for iTunes gift cards is quite possibly perpetrating a scam.

They will not and likely cannot legally do this.
