why can't i save multiple images to camera roll at once? it seems i can only save one at a time and its very frustrating..

the options seem to be there, they are just greyed out and i cant click on them.

at first i thought its because the images were too big, so i tried it with smaller images but same thing.

Greetings,

You aren't doing anything wrong. The share to camera roll feature only shares one image at a time.

Workaround:

  1. Email the images to yourself (email allows you to send multiple images from iPhoto).
  2. Download the images from the email to your iOS device (as Mail allows you to mass download images to the camera roll).

If you'd like to let Apple know that you want the share to camera roll feature to support multiple images visit here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto_ios.html

Cheers.

Yes, I think it is more like a bug than a feature, especialy when you can share multiple photos to flickr, facebook or even e-mail. I also can't understand why Apple do not allow organise photos into albums from iPhoto app and I have to do some workaround by saving to Camera Roll and then adding to Album with native Photo app.

I'll be waiting for iPhoto update as it is really lacking some basic functionality and besides crashing quite offten.

I can confirm @khaniff's original post the option in iPhoto for iOS is greyed out in conflict with the referenced article that follows:

Save to the Camera Roll

  1. Tap a photo, album, or event and tap User uploaded file.
  2. Tap Camera Roll.
  3. Confirm or change the photos you want to share by tapping an option.
    • Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
    • Select a range of photos: Tap Choose, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
  4. To use your photo in another app, open the app and select the Camera Roll album.

If this is a bug, call it a bug. It seems like many "experts" on Apple's discussion board are perfectly content telling end users they're doing something wrong instead of calling out developers for oversights, especially in regard to Apple's own OS & apps. It's clear from iPhoto's help file that this feature should be part of the UX and it's not.

Just visit an apple store and an expert told me that this looks like a flaw in the app. Would be great to be able to save all the pictures to camera roll or even better to another album, so then it can be transferred to computer.

I guess discussing this mather could bring attention to developers. I don't know how this bug could be reported.

Well apple gave us a long awaited iphoto update today. *** are they doing?

The ability to save more than 1 image to camera roll was obviously supposed to be included (**** I can't see why it wouldnt be) as the help files above showed that it was supposed to work.

SO WHAT DID APPLE DO? THEY CHANGED THE BL@@DY HELP FILES!!!!!!!!!!

Such major flaws as,

Only save 1 image to camera roll at a time.

Having to go to the standard photo app to create albums.

Just make iPhoto seem so ham fisted.

I think I've Basicly decided that iPhoto app is a heap of junk for me and I've deleted it.

Still yet to find a definitive photo app that can do most / all things.

Good luck all. My next tablet won't be the new iPad. !!!!!

If you are using the new iPhoto with your iPad then go into the Album you want to save to your camera roll, tap on the Share icon (the box with the right arrow in it), and then go to Camera Roll. You can select up to 100 images to save to the camera Roll and if you have more then just do it again. Once edited photos are in the camera roll, then you can easily add them to your iPhoto on your MBP by plugging in your iPad to your MB. Then just click and drag the thumbnails from your iPhoto album on your MB over to whatever file you want to save them in to save the original size jpegs.

A lot of steps, but easier than emailing it to yourself and secure.

Hope this helps someone.

I have set up lots of albums in iphoto on the ipad whilst overseas for 10 weeks. I have 1000's of photos. 2000+ are edited. I set up albums for each major place in each country in the photo app (these albums seem to duplicate in iphoto). I'm at capacity on the ipad storage.

I was thinking I just need to get the edited photos across to the camera roll. Are you saying that I can bulk copy each of the albums from iphoto to the camera roll?

Will this create duplicate albums or do they save over the top?

in the new iphoto app, why can't i save multiple images to camera roll at once?
