iPad
Hook it up to iTunes.
You can't change your password to get into it. Your only option is to do a Restore through iTunes: If you're able to do that on the same computer on which you last sync'ed and backed up your iPad then your data will be retained, if you have to use another computer then it will not and you will have to Restore it as a new, blank machine.
when i plug it into my mac my computer says that it cant connect to my IPad because there is a passcode on it and that i need to unlock it but its disabled so i cant unlock it
Old thread, I know, but since it's one of the higher google hits for this issue:
1. Connect the iPad to your computer. Dismiss the message that it's passcoded and can't connect.
2. Hold down the Home button and the Lock button until it restarts and then presents you with the "Connect to iTunes" graphic.
3. iTunes should then prompt you that it has detected an iPad in recovery mode and let you restore it.
i have tried doing this buut it keeps popping up on my itunes account saying this has a passcode that needs to be unlocked
What do i do?
Full instructions on recovery mode here. Looks like its just the home button while it starts up:
