hi, i have been rating my photos but when i try and search by rating (using the maginfiying glass next in search at bottom left corner) ALL the photos i have rated come up. they will be mixed together, i click on 4 star and 5's come up as well and vise versa. what am i missing?

Try using a smart album for the rating(s) you want

could you explain further? i really would like to click on the stars and it sort by rating. is this not the way it is suppose to work?
Go to the View menu, select "Sort Photos" > "By Rating".
thank you for the suggestion but it did not work. what happens is, it sorts within each foll, date etc. in other words it shows where i have loaded photos everytime, and shows the ones not reated along with rated ones, then it will show the next set of photos with rated and non-reated.
am i wrong to think when i ask for 5 star it should only show photos that are rated 5 star?

In the View Menu uncheck 'Show Event Titles'
Or use a Smart Album:
File -> New Smart Album
Rating -> is -> 5 Star
