HP Color Laserjet 2600n w/ Macbook Pro?

I am trying to get my HP Color Laserjet 2600n to work with my MacBook Pro. The driver is not included with the operating system even though this is the current Color Laserjet sold by HP.

Can I just install the 2600n driver, or do I need a special driver for Intel Macs? I heard that you need the special Intel driver. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can just use the existing installer. It intalls correctly
However, it does not give full functionality. With that driver
installed, I can (for example) no longer print in monochrome.
I hope that HP releases an updated driver.

Actually, you can access the full functionality, albeit in an indirect way. If you bring up the print dialog from an old PPC app, or set one of the universal apps to open with Rosetta, you can access the printer specific settings. Simply select, as in your example, monochrome, and save that as a preset. Now, when you are in a universal app and want to print in monochrome, simple selct that preset.

I am curious, as I have spent hours on the phone with HP support (no help there), trying to get my HP Color Laserjet 2600n to install correctly on my mac.

As you say, the installation works. But then, when I enter the printer's IP address in the "Add Printer" dialoge in Apple's Print Utility, no driver is found. The system in fact asks me if I want to use the "Generic Postscript Printer" driver for my laserjet. That cannot be right.

So I'm really, really eager to get a hit or so from you!

My printer is connected via ethernet, on the same subnet as my macbook pro.

thanks!

You never need to enter the printer's IP address. Click "Add Printer" and then select Rendezvous/Bonjour to automatically find your printer on the network. Once selected, it should connect to the correct driver.
