Q: Time Capsule lost after Lion Upgrade

I'm running Lion with Airport Utility set to check for updates so how come I am still on v6.0 with no prompt to upgrade? I understand 7.2 is the latest, so how can this happen and how can upgrade if I don't get a prompt on start up of Aiport Utility?

    You are mixing things up..

The airport utility v6.0 is the latest.

The problem is that it is cut down fancy graphics version of the much more powerful 5.6 for Lion which you can download and run along side it.

The firmware of the TC went from 7.5.2 recently to 7.6 with incremental .1 and .2 versions.

    So step one..

    Download the 5.6 utility.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482

    Step two..

Connect the TC to the computer by ethernet.. press and hold the reset for about 10sec.. and then allow the utility to discover the TC again.

    Step three..

Set SMB compatible names.. as this helps Lion

Use short names, no spaces, straight alphanumerics.

Once the setup is done you should be able to detect it by wireless and use it with it installed back into the network.

If you need more help describe the network and how the TC fits in.
