iTunes U missing covers

In the last days some covers are replaced by the "apple icon". This has happened on different University Pages. I've tried to "update" feed on iTunes U Public Manager but nothing changes (feeds have worked and are working fine).

What's the problem?

Same for Glasgow, we have just launched on Tuesday and it is so embarrassing showing this to our academics staff after all the hard work we have put in. Have spent the last 24 hours chasing our tails and thinking it was our fault.

Greetings;

I've recently experienced a similar issue. In the past, I've always saved my graphics as .jpg files. But apparently due to recent changes in the Public Site Manager environment, the prefered file type is .png files. After I changed my .jpg files to .png files the new Collections updated normally. I hope this helps! All the best...

Greetings All;

The generic icon issue has cropped up for us again. Collection graphics that previously appeared normally have now been replaced with the generic Apple education icon. Oddly enough, this issue seems to affect the our main iTunes U Welcome Page (see attached screen capture).

When the collection is selected, the graphic appears as expected (see second screen capture).

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ideas? Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for the response! I'm not sure if the .png file is the total solution to the problem. The collection that I referenced in the previous post as well as others in the "What's New" collection affected by the issue all have .png graphic files.

All the best...

Greetings;

I'm sorry your still having issues with your artwork. The file size that you are using is the same as I use (as is outlined in the PSM user guide).

It would expedite a response from the Apple Engineers who monitor these discussions if you would include a URL link or identify your institution. Hopefully there will be a resolution soon! All the best to you...

We just published yesterday and all icons are displaying as generic.

Have people found that thus far this problem been resolving itself over time?

We are on Apple Hosted Feeds so I presumed there would be no feed problems. I have an email in to apple as well, but very anxious to find out if this is something that would fix itself and if so, over how long?

our images are gif, which are listed as supported, but I am changing a couple to jpg right now to see if that helps.

thank you.

Same here, although in some cases not even a generic icon, just an empty holder with a ?. It does not look good and gives a bad impression of an institution, as viewers are not aware it's largely beyond our control.

It does not help that Apple are not very good at communicating with iTunes U administrators when it comes to problems or changes to features. (JPG or PNG? we're not telepathic!)

As with most institutions these days, we have enough to do without dedicating hour after hour to keeping iTunes U in order.
