I just purchased a Nikon D800.
I have downloaded Digital camera raw 3.11, but still cannot open raw files in Aperature. How can I get this to work?
MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

What message, if any, do you get when trying to open the image? I have the D800 and that Camera RAW update, and it is working thus far with the Full Frame, 14 bit compressed RAW. Since there are many settings on the D800, what are yours if different from this, and I can test for you.

Did you import the D800 files prior to installing the Camera RAW 3.11 update?
If so, select the D800 photos and choose "Reprocess Master" and they should be rendered properly.
Digital Camera RAW 3.11 has gone missing from Apple downloads. 3.12 (Canon 5D3) is there as is 3.10. I just rented a D800e and cannot download NEF files (unsupported file type) using iPhoto. Solution was to move to Lightroom 4. I wonder if the D800e NEF files are different than the D800 NEF files - which caused Apple to pull the download. Any ideas on this?
Don't know why it is no longer available, but it did not include NEF from the D800e. My NEF files from my D800 are being interpreted by 3.11, but I suspect it may have flaws in memory usage -- but only spectulation on my part.
A pro friend of mine who used Lightroom had to upgrade to LR4 to use the D800 files, as there was no update for LR3.

D800 and D800e NEF files are different. Aperture will need to add explicit support for the D800e.
Pre-empting the next question: Nobody here can say when that might be. For now you could shoot RAW+JPEG and edit the JPEG masters, and eventually switch to the RAW part of the pair when Aperture gains this support.
I also upgraded from LR3 to LR4 to get D800 / D800e support. I've been using iPhoto to download from each of my cameras because I like the library structure and the ability to carry data like Geotagging. I do a quick sort iPhoto to find the shots I want to work with and export those to Lightroom. LR4 is, for me, a much better photo editor than Aperature - but that's just my opinion, your mileage may vary. LR can get lost if you move masters from one drive to another. With the D800e and the current state of iPhoto RAW 3.11 I just import into LR4. Not ideal given my process but it does work. One can only speculate about 3.11 . Funny how Apple just pulled it with no explanation.
Interesting. It's as if Apple have been taken by surprise by the camera. Perhaps Aperture isn't a priority for them anymore, maybe they've grown tired of it. It looks like Adobe is taking the needs of photographers more seriously.
I've had Aperture since it first came out, but my own problems with it, coupled with this indifference in accommodating (perhaps) the most significant camera of a generation, makes me think that it's time for a shakeup.
There must first be info communicated by Nikon before the RAW converter can exist. None of us can say how good the communication between Nikon and Apple may be. Adobe only rushed the code into their new LR4, and I doubt it will ever be provided to LR3.
Ernie
Ummm... no. It takes time to develop the RAW conversion, and Apple likely has to get their hands on an actual D800e to do the work.
