Spidey,
Have you tried to "Repair Disk Permissions" using Disk Utility?
What are the "Sharing & Permissions:" settings for your Calendars Folder? You can find the Calendars Folder by selecting Finder>Go>Depress the "Option" key>Library>Calendars. When you get to Calendars Folder, right click on it and choose "Get Info." The Priveledge listed for (yourusername (Me)) should be "Read & Write."
i did the Repair Disk Permissions but even after that it is not opening
The "Sharing & Permissions" settings have 4 folders
everyone - No Privileges Info
system - Read & Write
wheel - read only
everyone - read only
Spidey,
I presume your User acccount is an Admin Account. If so, click on the lock icon on the bottom right hand corner of the "Info" window and sign in with your password.
Click on the + icon to add your username to the Privlege list, and choose "Read & Write" from the drop down menu.
Log out/in or restart and check iCal for proper function.

When i repaired permissions using Disk Utility it deleted the (Me) folder everytime.
Even when i changed the (me) folder to read & write iCal showed the same message.
Spidey,
Did you click the lock after making the change?
My settings are:
(Me) Read & Write
staff Read only
everyone Read only
Two other things to try:
1. Safe Boot
2. Reinstall the Mac OS X 10.7.3 Update.
After doing the permission repairs it changed my settings to:
everyone custom
system read& write
wheel read only
everyone read only
i tried the safe boot and the update you mentioned but it is having no affect on iCal. it still says that i don't have the permission to move the "Calendar cache" so i tried doing it manually but that also didn't heped me. 😟
Spidey,
I have to admit defeat..perhaps someone else will try to help.
Good Luck!
I have the exact problem on another account, but not mine, the administrator. Cannot open iCal at all on that account. However, I can open ICal on a different account. Tried all the same suggestions.
I have just had the same problem with Calendar & Reminders and have fixed it by editing the Read & Write permissions on the Calendar Cache folder. This is accessed by selecting Finder>Go>Depress the "Option" key>Library>Calendars. In this folder is the Calendar Cache folder. Right click and Get Info, then check the rights are correct. If not change them to you as Read & Write and anyone else as read only.
Thanks, it worked.
Followed directions but still get the same result. What is next?
