I've lost my apple tv remote - how do I use the remote app now?

I've lOst the remote to the apple tv - was told could download the remote App and all would be well but the instructions state to start home sharing from apple tv's main menu. How can I do that if I've lost the remote.

Any ideas will be appreciated

Is there not a way to program a Direct TV remote to the Apple TV? I tried to do it and now my TV won't respond to the DirectTv remote but I get the Apple TV to come on and off but cannot see any menus. I thought if i could program the DirectTv or a third party remote, then I wouldn't need the apple Tv remote. I also went on Apple.com and cannot find any apple tv remotes for sale. You should be able to buy a new remote and then pair the new remote correct?

I found an ARi3G Universal remote on Ebay for $5.99 that claimed to work with Apple TV. Low and behold, it does. I did not have home sharing turned on which and the remote came programmed to work. The instructions for the remote were a bit vague. Just push the Main button on the remote and it will work with Apple TV.

I'm so dissappointed that Apple does not somehow create an app to replace the remote. Just doesn't make sense. Obviously I'm in a bind and in a place where i cannot immediately get a remote or Apple TV. Boo! The problem with setting up home sharing is that if you unplug the Apple TV and move it to a new location (without the remote!!!!) you have to reset it all up. Anyways, I guess finding a solution today is not going to happen.
