My older phones would change time automatically as I traveled to a different time zone. 4s isn't doing that!
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1, I've done a reset and a new phone,
Check Settings>Location Services>System Services>Setting Time Zone Make sure it's set to "on".
Note: System Services is way, way down at the bottom.

Hmm. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

And you have Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically set to On?
Any update on this issue? I recently traveled from Central Daylight Time (CDT) to Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and then back again. On the way there, my wife's 4s correctly changed to EDT, but mine did not. Thinking it might be a carrier issue (we're on Verizon), I updated my roaming capabilities (which I had done just a mere two weeks ago). My 4s did then change to the correct time zone (EDT). On the return trip neither my wife's 4s nor my 4s changed back to CDT. Both of us had to temporarily enter into airplane mode and then back out for Central Time to be recognized once again.
The automatic time zone setting is enabled on both of the phones and we're up-to-date on all iOS versions.
This is ridiculous and infuriating at the same time! How can a state-of-the-art smart phone (the almighty iPhone) fail to determine the correct time zone based on your current location??!!??!!! My previous Motorola flip phone would flawlessly handle time zone changes based on your location!

I've gone as far as getting a new iPhone! It just doesn't work! I've kind of accepted this unfortunate situation because I'm an hour from the nearest ape store. I have to manually change time zones. It is a rediculous thing for a smart phone not to automatically switch time zones! Sorry your experiencing the same problem. Let me know if you figure this out please!
It's not a problem; mine switches time zones wherever I go in the world, including outside of the US. I assume you have some setting wrong. I's always easier to blame the device than to figure out what you aren't doing right.
No problems with time zone switching with either my 4S (or previous 4, 3G and 3) on AT&T, or my wife's 4 on Verizon. No time zone problems with 20 odd people I know with 4S, 4, and 3G models.

Actually, YOU need to fix YOUR phone, since virtually everyone else (including your wife) does not have this problem. Restore your phone in iTunes, first usng a backup, and if needed as new, without using a backup.
FYI, you aren't addressing Apple here. A read of the forum Terms of Use you agreed to when you joined show that this is a user-to-user tech support site. Apple doesn't officially participate, and reads few posts.
