After 10.6.1 update iTunes won't launch

Dialog appears and says" This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version. "

I click OK and the dialog drops me to the Desktop. Nothing else happens.

I tried iTunes 10.6 when it was released, which resulting in a crash every time I connected an iOS device so I 'downgraded' to 10.5.3.

I thought maybe this was the fix. I guess not. "Downgraded to 10.5.3 again. This is ridiculous.

I was having this problem. I seem to have been able to solve it by switching my language from English to British English in the System Preferences. This is what my language settings should have been anyway and I'm not entirely sure why they were not set like this.

Not again, Apple! Come on. The last version of itunes crashed all time when playing back videos and I had to re-install an earlier version of itunes. Painful and embarrising.

I was hesitant to install 10.6.1 because of this and now this issue about "this version of itunes is not correctly localized..."

Is Apple software turning into Microsoft software? Apple get you s-t together. You cannot release versions with bugs like this. Respect your customer and the establised Apple culture.

Changing the language from "U.S." to "British" did not work for me, and why should I have to do that in the first place?!

As most people in this thread what worked for me was to download the full version of itunes.

You can get it from Apple website: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Needless to say I am disapointed and furious that I had to spend time and energy on this. I will not update itunes for a long time.
