I tried to send an e mail the other day and got the dredded pin wheel of death. Didn't help that I clicked 50 times for the stupid attachment to load onto the document that I was sending. Who's the stupid one?
Essentially, I plug the laptop in and hit the power up button. A blue screen and the pinwheel cycles for hours. Caint get past this point. What can I do to fix this?

What OS are you using? You will need to do a disk repair. IOS 5 is the operating system for an iPhone or iPad not a MBP.

Sig. Thanks for the reply. The computer is about 5 years old. Not quite sure of the op system? How can I do a disk repair if I cannot access past the pinnwheel?
Read through that knowledge base article, and you will have to startup in safe mode first.

Actually. It will start up, but it will not boot up. The desktop is solid blue with the pinnwheel spinning. I caint get past that point.

See if you can start in safe mode, restart and hold the shift key when the chime sounds.

In five years you never went to the Apple in the menu > About This Mac? You never updated your OS from the version it shipped with? You never opened the package with the disks that came with your MBP?
