I'm trying to reboot Snow Leopard on a Mac Pro and reformat the HD.
But of course, nothing can ever be easy and the darn thing will not boot from CD
It just boots from the HD and takes me to the login screen everytime,
has anyone else had this problem? And is there anyway you've found of fixing this?
(I've tried holding C, Ctrl+Apple, Option)

The "snag keys" work best on a directly-connected wired keyboard. Some Hubs come up too late for the keys to be seen.
The simplest is the Option key. it draws a blank screen, then puts up an Icon for each potential bootable Volume it finds.
Do you have ATI 5770? Do you have 10.6.3+ DVD (they are DVDs, CDs have not been used since 2004)
What model Mac Pro? 4,1? 5 ,1?
You should have more than one boot drive handy - clone the system, spare drives, etc.
Try formatting another drive and pull the current drive.
Yes I have the ATI 5770. I do not have any higher versions of Snow Leopard. I have the family pack of OS X 10.6. Since I have multiple macs.

I have Leopard, Snow Leopard Install DVD's
I can't even format drives...
5770 requires 10.6.3 and 10.6.4 recommended
try booting w/ hdd removed
getanother hdd then and clone your system w/ CCC
use Lion Recovery mode instead
MacPro won't boot from CD
