Sent mail still in Drafts folder

Some mail I send shows up in the Drafts folder after it is sent. Makes me wonder if it realy went out. But it shows in the Sent folder, too. What causes this?

You're storing draft messages on the server. Mail creates a temporary draft each time you compose a message and it deletes the temporary when you send. Mail is syncing the temporary draft to IMAP.

In Mail preferences, uncheck store drafts on the server. This will put the IMAP draft folder back under the IMAP folder in the sidebar. If you need to save a draft to complete on another device, then you can copy or move the created draft manually to the IMAP draft folder.
