Apple TV / PVR / HTIB / HD TV

Hi,

I just purchased an Apple TV. My setup is this. I have my HD PVR connected to my TV via HDMI. I have my HD PVR connected to my HTIB via Opitical Audio cable. I have my HTIB connect to my TV Via HDMI. I connected my ATV directly to my HTIB via HDMI, all seemed to work OK, except I have keep the TV on, even when just streaming music. In fact when I tried to turn the TV off, the HTIB turned off as well. IS there a better setup for me?

Thanks.

AppleTV has been fickle recently about audio playback when TV is off.

Having the HTIB in the middle complicates things to some extent as when TV off the HTIB may say nothing is connected so AppleTV just doesn't play anything - that's supposition.

Always a problem when you have moe devices than TV or amp inputs!

Ensure your AppleTV software is up to date (4.4.4 supposedly fixed audio playback without Tv on, we're now on 5.0).

If I were you I would swap around ATV and the HD PVR if you can - connect the PVR directly to teh HITB, and the ATV to the TV with HDMI and optical to the HTIB. Might not work but worth a shot.
