How much does it cost for apple to replace a iPad 3rd generation with a couple of tiny dents on the back?

My iPad has a couple of tiny dents on the back of it. I dont have applecare for this ipad. Apple says it would be $299 to replace the ipad. Does anyone know if that is true? Can apple fix the dents or can they replace the ipad? What should I do?

iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi, iOS 5.1

phew😮 So, this is what someone with nothing worthwhile to do, and too much money to throw away, does... interesting! A few dents that are almost invisible, caused by neglect, $299 and a whole lot of fuss about whether or not the replacement will be EXACTLY the same...😁😁😁😁😁

For Christ's sake... Apple does not exist to swap your iPAD for something else and then laugh about it. If you send them your product back you will get one back that will be functionally equivalent to your original purchase, and YES it will be the same make and model. They are not going to change the specifications even if you beg them to, so stop obsessing about it. And NO... it won't be a brand new one! There, I said it. You are sending back a product that you have damaged yourself, and then you expect Apple to dish out a 'BRAND NEW' iPAD for $299??? 😀 That's ridiculous. You will either get a refurbished iPAD, or in a rare case they might just replace the back cover, or wherever the dents are. But if you are expecting another factory fresh, packaged iPAD... far cry. You should have taken care of your gadget if you are that fussy about dents and scratches. And how long do you think the replacement iPAD will stay in mint condition? Stop asking stupid questions over and over. **** happens... especially if you are not careful Accept it... get over it... don't bring it up again. Just enjoy your new purchase, and use it for what it's meant. iPADS are not meant to be turned over and stared at. They are meant to be used... and we usually stare at the screen, not the back.

Ok, So I spent 3 hours on the phone today with applecare, apple sales support, and my retail store. They did NOT know the costs but I dont blame them. But before I go to the store, I would like someone to give me a reasonable guess to replace a 3rd generation ipad 64GB black. Sorry for ALL of the questions, but I have NEVER had a broken apple product in the last 12 years that I have had apple products.

I am NOT taking any sides about what the OP is doing / or trying to do, but by the sound of the OP obsessing SO much about this, they might have Obsessive–compulsive disorder.

I am NOT saying the OP HAS Obsessive–compulsive disorder, I am saying that it MAY be why they obsessing so much and it MAY be the reason why they are doing this.

I don't want to offend the OP or any one else by saying this.
