Q: Airport Express slows my internet speed

All,

 

I just purchased an Airport Express in order to stream music wirelessly on my stereo.  I did that by plugging my AE into a wall socket, connecting it to my stereo, and connecting it to my wireless router using a network cable.  It works pretty well. Unfortunately, my internet speed has slowed down a lot.  Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong or how to fix?

    Also, my internet is through ATT U-verse, and my modem is through them as well.  My U-verse account indicates that my "Download Speed up to 18 Mbps".  That typically is plenty fast for me.

    Please take a look at the following Apple Support article on the details on the various ways you can configure your new 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) for iTunes streaming. Based on your description, it appears that you have configured both routers as a roaming network. Please double-check the settings as this may be the cause of poor Internet throughput performance you are seeing.
