Q: Why won't my mac install the application disc?

I've tried resetting the smc and i've reformated the drive so why does my mac keep spitting out the application disc?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    Which Application Disc?

How exactly were you able to Format the Drive?

I basically started afresh with my mac mini and reinstalled the osx dvd but when trying to install the application dvd, the disc just keeps getting spat out. It's the 2008 version and I reformated it usung disc utility and i ran the 7x wipe on the hard drive. The disc drive was able to read the osx disc so i presume that's in working order. Any ideas?

Well, one note... I think the 7x wipe just writes different patterns to the sectors, but I don't think it does the attempted marking out of bad sectors like the Zero one pass does, not that that seems the problem.

Is this the automatic asking for second Disc during Install? If so...

That second Disc thing happens frequently, the best way around it is to do a Custom install, and eliminate enough Printer Drivers, Languages, Fonts, and Applications you don't need... then it may skip #2 altogether.
