problems with adding apps to ipad

My wife doesnt recall "baptizing" her iPad under any particular computer.

Using my iMac and iTunes manager when we try to add applications to the iPad that I have on the iMac via iTunes, iTunes says it will deleted all other apps, which of course we don't want to do.

Can you pls help with your insights?
