I have a two year old macbook and I have a new macbook with a firewire connection. My older macbook doesnt have a firewire connection. Which connection do i buy to use the migration assistant.

As a last resort, you could use an external HDD to transfer the data. If the Mackbook has a 6 pin Firewire port you can use that using a 6 pin/9pin cable.
