My cursor is going bananas.
It has a mind of it's own, it moves by itself, it clicks by itself, and it doesn't matter if I use the trackpad or a usb mouse. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Try a Restart of your computer...
I am a beginner @ Macs, but it sounds like there's a virus on there that lets someone else control your mac. This IS probably nonsense. You can also try to reboot.
I guess I should have elaborated. I updated the software. I restarted the computer (more than once) I called Apple techincal support and they suggested I post the question here.

Yea... If you post the question here, you can get LOTS of great answers!
Please identify one especially this one that "lets someone else control your mac"
I really don't think anyone is trying to controll my mac. The cursor does all sorts or random things very quickly.
Sadly it happens with a mouse and the trackpad. I have my HD split so I also run windows on this computer. The problem does not occur on the windows side.
I reset the Pram, but that did not solve the problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Yes.....Pita this is. I'm in the middle of editing something on final cut to.
I did find this article, not sure if you have seen it or not. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1449
Also a good troubleshooting step is to test the mouse/trackpad in a new user since you already know it's not hardware after testing it in your Windows Boot Camp partition, if it doesn't happen in a new user then you might be able to isolate it to a trashable plist from your ~/Library/Preferences folder

Not sure that this will help but, try turning tap to click off temporarily
So, I have only isolated it to my main profile. But for whatever reason, the problem has stopped as of this morning.
Just had this start up with my new MacBook Pro. However I was successful before when my old 17" Powerbook started doing that.
Trouble shooting and solutions in order that worked:
Followed cleaning instructions for trak pad and metal cover. That worked about twice.
Covered trakpad area with mylar or similar plastic (half of a sheet protector). Also worked for a while.
Took computer to a different room (you'll see why later). Plugged it in there and it worked for several days without a hitch.
Plugged computer charger into a different receptacle. This solved the problem. Old plug location was into a plug block. I expect that's the problem I'm having now with the new MacBook Pro.
Reason that I came to this solution: Found writeups about problems using third party chargers. While I definitely had an Apple charger, the idea that the electric signal was degraded or somehow affecting the performance made me trouble shoot the plug block. When plugged into the wall receptacle (without the plug block), problem was solved. Hope this helps if you have future issues.
I was having the same problem and changing to a different plug did the trick. I, too, have an Apple charger, btw. Thanks!
