How to download photos from memory stick pro duo

You can try a card reader into the USB part of the camera connection kit

I have an older Vivitar card reader that I've used to read 32 gig CF cards so the memory stick should work.

the next challenge, the protocol only sees files if they have a name of exactly 8 characters and are located in a DCIM folder.

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.

Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).

Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.

If your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content.

If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again.

Note: Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge.

The settings are normally found under: Settings>Memory Stick Tool

1. Connect your camera to the CCK.

2. Copy data from memory stick to SD card

Does your camera have a USB port on the camera itself? Can you connect that to the Camera Connection Kit to copy the photos over to your iPad?

Some cameras will connect and allow the iPad to transfer photos without having to turn the camera on. Other cameras must be turned on to complete the connection and transfer.
