backlit keyboard not working

can anyone help me how to get my backlit keyboard to work? all of a sudden it quit working...i checked my keyboard preference and the checkbox to automatically illuminate keyboard in low light is checked...


i appreciate the help!

There is a ribon or a small flat cable to the left of where you install the memory. If this is disloged it will cause an issue with the back light on the key board. I tried everything suggested from reseting to changing control settings nothing worked. So remember if you have recentlu intalled new memory you may have by accident disloged this small black ribon or flat looking small cable. just push it back into the slot carefully unlit it is fully pushed in. That was the solution to my back light key boeard issue on my macbook pro. Oh and there is a small black rectangular tape that goes on top of the connection of the cable or ribbon and the small unit it hooks up to with copper wires going to it. Hope this helped someone.
