iPhone: iPad power chargers

Sorry, silly question; Hi, my new iPhone 4s came supplied with a small, slender charging plug whereas my new iPad 3 came with a considerably larger (2 piece clip together) plug. Are they interchangeable, ie, can either plug be used for either device or are they specific to their respective machines? (are the adapter's power ratings the same or different). I work away a lot and like to travel light so would prefer to only take one of them if possible! Cheers!

The iPad's charger is twice as powerful as the iPhone's, 10W compared to 5W. You can use an iPhone charger with the iPad but it will be a lot slower to charge it, and might not be able to if you are using the iPad - the iPad's own charger is the most efficient way to charge the iPad. You can safely use an iPad charger with an iPhone : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327
