The original Apple Wireless Keyboard, introduced in 2003, is not compatible:
- Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003): Features a white case and uses four AA batteries.

Jul 7, 2014 7:57 PM in response to Mc123456by Charles Rogerson,I had this problem and fixed it. The keyboard may have already paired itself with another machine. I went on a trip, taking my ipad and keyboard. During the trip they became unpaired. When I got home the keyboard wouldn't pair with the iPad. After several minutes of trying, I found a post on another thread about checking whether your keyboard had already paired itself with another computer in your house. My old iMac was on (it's usually off or asleep), and sure enough, it was paired to the keyboard. I turned Bluetooth off on the iMac, went back to the iPad, went back to Settings, clicked on the entry for Apple Wireless Keyboard, and it connected immediately
