update WiFi with USB?

I have a MacBook Core Duo (early 2008, AKA "1,1") that has a built-in Airport Extreme card with 802.11g. I recently bought a USB-based 802.11n card that purports to be Mac compatible. Short of physically removing the built-in card, how do I tell my MacBook to use the USB version?

System Profiler shows the Airport Card as Connected under Network, and under USB it shows the 802.11n WLAN adapter.
