You need some tool. A paperclip would work....

Which version iPad do you own? Verizon or AT&T? If you own Verizon, there is no sim card. If you own AT&T, the sim card holder would be on the left side of your iPad (with the face facing you). Next to the sim card holder, there would be a very small hole. If you bought the AT&T version, it would have come with a sim card removal tool. If you don't have it, a paper clip will work. Just put the tool or paper clip in the small hole and push it in until the sim tray pops out. Again, this is only applicable if you have the AT&T version.
