For a list of AirPrint compatible printers, see <iOS: AirPrint 101>.

Pick your favorite brand.  The more expensive models are probably better!  If you intend to print glossy photos, you want an inkjet printer.  If not, the cost per print is usually less with a laser printer.  A printer with larger ink or toner cartridges will usually provide a lower cost per print, in spite of the higher cartridge costs.

    Louise-

I have favorite brands, but not models that do AirPrint.  My personal preference is HP for Laser and Epson for Inkjet.

I purchased the least expensive HP AirPrint inkjet printer back when AirPrint was first introduced.  It works OK, but I seldom print from my iPad.

I have noticed that most AirPrint printers are multi-function (all-in-one) models.  If you need the additional functions, check to see if there is an App available to use them.  For example, mine can scan to an SD card, but it requires an App to scan to the iPad.
