Changing a video in Keynote to trapezoid shape

Hello

Need a keynote guru. I would like to insert 2 videos on the same black slide next to each other, and have them trapezoid in shape.

Can this be done in keynote.

Thanks

Lady,

Masking a video can't be done directly - the option is greyed out. That leaves you with two choices:

A. Within Keynote:

1. Create a covering frame using Keynote Shapes to form a trapazoid opening

2. Select them together and assign a black fill then

3. Group the shapes

4. Clone the frame (Option-Drag)

5. Place one frame in front of each video

Note: Do not group the video with the frame or you will not be able to play the video

B. Using thirdparty applications to create the trapazoidal frame

1. Create a black masking frame in the shape you need, copy as required.

2. Paste into Keynote and use as a "mask"- like frame in front of your video

3. The same Note applies - don't group with the video

You can apply a mask to the video using QuickTime Pro.

To add a video mask:

In QuickTime Player, choose Window > Show Movie Properties.

Select the video track you want to assign the mask to, then click Visual Settings.

Drag the mask file from the Finder to the Mask well in the Properties window, or click Choose to select the file.

Here's a MacWorld article that includes some ideas for creating the mask....

The current version of Quicktime Player (Version 10.0) does not offer the Pro features of earlier versions (contrary to what Apple Support Pages says) and if you have OS X 10.6.8 or later, the Quicktime Icon has been removed from the System Preferences so one can't upgrade to Pro using the Apple Support Pages directions.

Apple still offers Quicktime Version 7.x but it requires purchasing a new set of Pro registration numbers. http://support.apple.com/downloads#quicktime

Although Apple says that the Version 10 of Quicktime has pro elements, to do the masking suggested requires Quicktime Player 7Upgraded to Quicktime Pro.

I never threw mine away, but many people did.

Hi Lady, believe or not you can do that perspective skew to your video in PowerPoint 2010 & 2011, and you can change the video shape to anything you want, as well as trim the video or edit start and ending times.

I came on here looking for the same thing you were and that's how I found this thread. I know it can be done in PPT but not in Keynote. I wish these two programs could have equal capabilities. They both have major pros and cons.
